During the course of Dr. Smith's career, he has watched countless new materials, products, procedures and techniques be agressively marketed to the dental community by the best Madison Avenue marketing agencies. Each of these products promised to be better, stronger, quicker, and whiter than its predecessor. Dentists bought into these products and put them to use. It was later, when these products began to fail in clinical use, that the profession discovered they were not meeting expectations. In some cases, the use of those products was later revealed to be unsafe and actually made the patient's original problem worse. Dr. Smith is quick to embrace technology that has proven itself over time to be safe and durable and better than what it replaced. For these reasons, we do not embrace many of the flashy, highly marketed, products and techniques that are put before unsuspecting dental consumers. |
